alxwhere

How well do you know Alexandria? Every day at midnight you get three local spots. Tap the map where you think each one is. The closer your pin lands, the more you score, up to 1,000 points a spot.

A finished alxwhere day on a phone: three guesses and three answers pinned on the map, with the score card below

How it works

Three spots a day

Everyone gets the same three points of interest: landmarks, parks, schools, congregations, and independently owned local businesses. A new set lands at midnight, Alexandria time.

Drop a pin, lock it in

You get a name and a category, never a place label on the map. The AA button hides street and neighborhood names too, for a harder game.

Closer is better

Anything within 50 m scores the full 1,000. After that, points fall off with distance. Parks and campuses count as a bullseye anywhere inside their real outline.

Charity Hump Day

On Wednesdays the last spot is a local charity. Find it, then follow the link to see what they do.

The reveal after a guess: the player's pin, the real spot, the distance between them, the score, and a line about the place
The reveal. Your pin, the real spot, the distance, the points, and a line about the place.

Scoring

Full marks inside 50 m, then a smooth fall-off. Roughly:

500 m (0.3 mi)707
